Acupuncture for Back Pain is very effective

Back Pain? Acupuncture for back pain is a tried and tested solution. If you use painkillers or cope? Think again! Acupuncture offers a genuinely holistic approach to back problems, helping the symptoms and underlying cause.

You are not alone…

Back pain can affect anyone at any age. Most people will suffer from it at some point in their lives. Furthermore, it is the UK’s leading cause of disability and one of the main reasons for work-related sickness absence. The condition affects more than 1.1 million people in the UK. Around 95% of patients suffer from problems affecting the lower back. Back pain currently costs the NHS and community care services more than £1 billion each year.

Lower back pain is generally not a result of severe damage or disease. Usually, it is sprains, muscle strains, minor injuries, or a pinched or irritated nerve. It can also occur with postural issues, during pregnancy, or because of stress, viral infection or a kidney infection. Also, it may be that you do not know what started your back pain.

A long term solution

Painkillers often numb the end symptom and mask the problem. They do not address many of the combined underlying causes of back pain. Traditional acupuncture can be highly beneficial for back problems by stimulating different body points. Moreover, it provides long term pain relief and reduces inflammation. I find most clients experience some relief after the first treatment. I generally have good results after a few sessions. The number needed depends on how long the problem has been there.

Most importantly, it works to seek out and help the original cause so that pain does not return. It also works as a preventative by realigning your posture and encouraging your body’s natural healing mechanisms.
